Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) is a glycoside hydrolase that hydrolyzes β-glucuronic acid and sulfate esters in urine and other biological fluids, thereby releasing β-glucuronides. Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) cannot effectively hydrolyze Estriol glucuronide. Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) can be used in studies related to systemic gangliosidosis.

Biological Activity
Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) is taken up by type I generalized gangliosidosis fibroblasts via a saturable, receptor-mediated endocytosis system, which is distinct from the mannose-6-phosphate recognition system utilized by bovine testis β-galactosidase; at a limiting concentration of 200 U/mL, its uptake rate is 90-fold that of horseradish peroxidase[1].
In the presence of sodium sulfate, Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) efficiently hydrolyzes the glucuronides of androsterone, etiocholanolone, pregnanediol, and 17-hydroxycorticosteroids in natural urine (hydrolysis rate ≥93.5%), but exhibits poor hydrolytic activity toward estriol glucuronide (hydrolysis rate 41.8%)[2].
