Biological Activity: Epoetin alfa (Epogen) is a recombinant human erythropoietin whose amino acid sequence and biological activity are identical to those of endogenous erythropoietin (EPO). Epoetin alfa is a direct agonist of the EPO receptor (EPOR) on the surface of erythroid progenitor cells, and promotes the production and maturation of red blood cells. Epoetin alfa can be used for research on myelodysplastic syndrome-related anemia and hematological malignancies[1][2].
