Description

CNOT9 Protein, Human (His, Strep) is the recombinant human-derived CNOT9, expressed by E. coli , with Strep, His labeled tag.

Background

CNOT9 is a component of the CCR4-NOT complex, a major cellular mRNA deadenylase involved in processes such as bulk mRNA degradation, miRNA-mediated repression, translational repression during initiation, and general transcription regulation. Its broader functions may stem from modulating mRNA expression. It downregulates MYB- and JUN-dependent transcription (by similarity) and potentially contributes to cell differentiation. In vitro, CNOT9 binds oligonucleotides like poly-G, poly-C, or poly-T, though the physiological relevance remains unclear, and it does not bind poly-A. It enhances ligand-dependent transcriptional activity of nuclear hormone receptors (e.g., RARA) but has minimal or no effect on ESR1-mediated transcription.
