Background

KLRG1 Protein assumes a pivotal role in exerting inhibitory effects on both natural killer (NK) cells and T-cell functions through its binding to non-MHC ligands. By engaging in missing self-recognition, KLRG1 monitors the expression of classical cadherins, including E-cadherin/CDH1, N-cadherin/CDH2, and R-cadherin/CDH4 on target cells. Existing as both a monomer and homodimer with disulfide linkage, KLRG1 employs its immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM) to interact with signaling molecules such as PTPN11 and INPP5D, thereby modulating cellular responses and contributing to immune regulation.
