1,10-Phenanthrolin-2-amine
1,10-Phenanthrolin-2-amine is an antimycoplasmal agent whose anti-mycoplasmal activity depends on the presence of non-toxic copper. 1,10-Phenanthrolin-2-amine forms a complex with copper, thereby transporting copper into mycoplasma cells, where copper inhibits energy-supplying metabolic processes. 1,10-Phenanthrolin-2-amine can be used in studies of Mycoplasma gallisepticum infection.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
1,10-Phenanthrolin-2-amine (compound 3) (3 nM-100 μM; 24 h) exhibits lower antimycoplasmal activity against Mycoplasma gallisepticum K514 than its amide and amidine derivatives, regardless of the presence of 40 μM CuSO4[1].
