Description

4-Methylumbelliferone ferulic acid ester serves as a substrate for feruloyl esterase. 4-Methylumbelliferone ferulic acid ester forms an activated aryl ester intermediate, 4-O-acetylated 4-methylumbelliferone ferulic acid ester, which is used for the synthesis of feruloyl esterase substrates[1].

In Vitro

Pure deprotected ferulic acid ester is obtained in a yield of 84-91% via lipase PS-catalyzed deacetylation of 4-Methylumbelliferone ferulic acid ester (Compound 3b) (72 h; 40 °C) in i-PrOH/CH2Cl2; in contrast, chemical deacetylation with pyrrolidine causes complete hydrolysis of the ester bond[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
