Background

  • Function

IFN alpha 1 belongs to the type I interferon family and is an important member of the body's first line of defense against viral infection. IFN alpha 1 binds to the interferon α receptor (IFNAR) on the cell surface. After binding, it activates intracellular signaling pathways (such as the JAK-STAT pathway), ultimately upregulating the expression of hundreds of interferon-stimulated genes. The proteins encoded by these genes work together to perform antiviral and antiproliferative functions. IFN alpha 1 is a protein with strong antiviral and immunomodulatory functions[1].
