Background
Function:Associates with IFNGR1 to form a receptor for the cytokine interferon gamma (IFNG) (PubMed:7615558, PubMed:7673114, PubMed:8124716). Ligand binding stimulates activation of the JAK/STAT signaling pathway (PubMed:15356148, PubMed:7673114, PubMed:8124716). Required for signal transduction in contrast to other receptor subunit responsible for ligand binding (PubMed:7673114)
Subcellular Localization:Cell membrane,Cytoplasmic vesicle membrane,Golgi apparatus membrane,Endoplasmic reticulum membrane,Cytoplasm
Expression:
Tissue_Specificity: Expressed in T-cells (at protein level)
Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification:P38484: 337 amino acids, molecular weight 37806 Da.
Subunit:Heterodimer with IFNGR1, to form the IFNG receptor complex (PubMed:7615558)
Synonyms
AF-1; IFGR2; IFNGT1; IMD28

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
