Background

  • Function

MTA3 acts as a component of the histone deacetylase NuRD complex which participates in the remodeling of chromatin. Plays a role in maintenance of the normal epithelial architecture through the repression of SNAI1 transcription in a histone deacetylase-dependent manner, and thus the regulation of E-cadherin levels. Contributes to transcriptional repression by BCL6[1][2][3][4].

  • Expression

Tissue_Specificity: Expressed in germinal centers of lymphoid tissues. No expression in nonepithelial cells.
    Induction: By estrogen.

  • Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification

MTA3 has 2 isoforms, Q9BTC8-1: amino acid length is 594, molecular weight is 67504 Da (predicted); Q9BTC8-2: amino acid length is 515, molecular weight is 58814 Da (predicted).
