    CD86 (B7-2) is an immune co-stimulatory molecule expressed on the surface of antigen-presenting cells that regulates T-cell activation through binding to CD28 or CTLA-4 on T cells; it serves as a classic marker in research concerning dendritic cell maturation, macrophage polarization, tumor immunity, autoimmunity, infection, and transplant immunology.
