Biological Activity: 1-(2,5-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-hydroxybutan-1-one is an inhibitor of iNOS and COX-2. 1-(2,5-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-hydroxybutan-1-one inhibits LPS-induced excessive production of NO and PGE2, as well as the mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-12. 1-(2,5-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-hydroxybutan-1-one can be used in inflammation-related research[1].
