Dioctyldimethylammonium chloride exerts bactericidal activity via disruption of membrane integrity, and intracellular lysate leakage. Dioctyldimethylammonium chloride also can be used as a petroleum additive, antistatic agent, softening agent, rare metal flotation agent, and corrosion inhibitor.
