Acne

Acne is a common skin condition characterized by clogged hair follicles due to excess oil and dead skin cells, resulting in various lesions such as whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, and cysts. It primarily affects the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders, with a high prevalence among teenagers and young adults, although it can occur at any age. While not life-threatening, acne can cause scarring and significantly impact self-esteem and mental health, potentially leading to anxiety, low self-confidence, or depression. Hormonal fluctuations, particularly during puberty and pregnancy, are key contributing factors, though diet, cleanliness, and stress do not directly cause acne. Treatment involves gentle skincare, topical or oral medications, and sun protection, aiming to reduce inflammation, prevent new breakouts, and minimize long-term complications.
