H-Gly-D-Ala-OH is a dipeptide containing D-amino acid. H-Gly-D-Ala-OH can be specifically hydrolyzed by renal dipeptidase, which acts on peptide segments with a D-amino acid at the carboxyl terminus. H-Gly-D-Ala-OH enables highly specific detection of renal dipeptidase activity without interference from other serum or urine aminopeptidases. When used in combination with low-dose Sodium nitrite (HY-N11218), H-Gly-D-Ala-OH inhibits the initial spore growth of Clostridium botulinum in pork homogenate, whereas it has no such effect on its own. H-Gly-D-Ala-OH can be used in research related to chronic renal failure, diabetes mellitus and botulism.

H-Gly-D-Ala-OH is a dipeptide containing D-amino acid. H-Gly-D-Ala-OH can be specifically hydrolyzed by renal dipeptidase, which acts on peptide segments with a D-amino acid at the carboxyl terminus. H-Gly-D-Ala-OH enables highly specific detection of renal dipeptidase activity without interference from other serum or urine aminopeptidases. In Vitro

H-Gly-D-Ala-OH (150 mM; 30 min) acts as a highly specific substrate for purified swine renal dipeptidase, supporting precise measurement of the enzyme's activity with minimal interference from aminopeptidase activity[1].
H-Gly-D-Ala-OH (0.26% (w/v); 56 days), when used in combination with 60 ppm sodium nitrite, potently inhibits outgrowth of mixed type A and type B Clostridium botulinum spores in minced pork slurry, resulting in an average 27 days for growth to occur, but shows no inhibitory activity when used alone[2].
