Kuwanon N (compound 1) is isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of the root bark of Morus lhou Koidz., and its structure is identified as a natural Diels-Alder adduct via spectroscopic data[1].
Kuwanon N is obtained by sequential extraction with n-hexane, benzene and ethyl acetate from 26 kg of dried root bark of Morus lhou Koidz., followed by isolation via silica gel column chromatography and preparative TLC, with a yield of 20 mg[1].
