Lactate Oxidase, Aerococcus viridans is a lactate oxidase derived from Aerococcus viridans. Lactate Oxidase, Aerococcus viridans uses FMN as a cofactor, catalyzes the oxidation of lactate to pyruvate via hydride transfer, and re-oxidizes reduced FMN using molecular oxygen to produce hydrogen peroxide. Lactate Oxidase, Aerococcus viridans is a flavoenzyme with important biotechnological value, which enables indirect determination of Lactate through the production of hydrogen peroxide.

Lactate oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of L-lactate, with a kcat of 88 s-1 and a Km of 0.50 mM for L-lactate; in contrast, the Y215F and Y215H mutants exhibit reduced catalytic activity, with kcat values of 22 s-1 and 5.0 s-1, respectively[2].
