Biological Activity
Description
ABCB11 Protein, Human (sf9, Flag, His) is the recombinant human-derived ABCB11, expressed by sf9 insect cells, with His, Flag labeled tag.
Background
ABCB11 is an ATP-dependent transporter that primarily facilitates the transport of major hydrophobic bile salts, such as tauro- and glyco-conjugated cholic acid, across the canalicular membrane of hepatocytes. It plays a crucial role in hepatic bile acid homeostasis and indirectly regulates lipid homeostasis by controlling biliary lipid secretion in a bile salt-dependent manner. This transporter exhibits a higher transport rate for tauro-conjugated bile salts compared to glyco-conjugated ones. Additionally, ABCB11 mediates the ATP-dependent transport of non-bile acid compounds like pravastatin and fexofenadine, potentially contributing to their biliary excretion. by similar
