Biological Activity

Description

BMPR-II Protein, Human (HEK293, hFc) is the recombinant human-derived BMPR-II protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-hFc tag.

Background

BMPR2 is a type II transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor that forms a complex with two type II and two type I receptors upon ligand binding. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors, which then autophosphorylate and recruit SMAD transcriptional regulators. It also mediates signaling via the p38MAPK cascade. BMPR2 binds to BMP7 and BMP2 (less efficiently to BMP4), with weak binding enhanced by the presence of BMP type I receptors. It mediates adipogenesis induction by GDF6 and promotes signaling through interaction with activin A/INHBA.
