Biological Activity

Description

DNAJC9 Protein, Human (His, Strep) is the recombinant human-derived DNAJC9, expressed by E. coli , with Strep, His labeled tag.

Background

DNAJC9 functions as both a histone chaperone and a heat shock co-chaperone. As a histone chaperone, it forms a complex with MCM2 and histone H3-H4 heterodimers, aiding MCM2 in recognizing histone H3-H4 and facilitating histone assembly into nucleosomes. It may also act as a histone co-chaperone alongside TONSL and recruit histone chaperones such as ASF1A, NASP, and SPT2 to histone H3-H4 heterodimers. Additionally, DNAJC9 serves as a co-chaperone for HSP70 family molecular chaperones (e.g., HSPA1A, HSPA1B, and HSPA8), potentially playing a role in recruiting the HSP70 chaperone machinery to histone H3-H4 substrates to maintain histone structural integrity. In vitro, it demonstrates the ability to assemble histones onto DNA.
