Background
HNF1A is a transcriptional activator that regulates the tissue-specific expression of multiple genes, particularly in pancreatic islet cells and liver (by similar). It binds to the inverted palindrome sequence 5'-GTTAATNATTAAC-3' and activates the transcription of genes such as CYP1A2, CYP2E1, and CYP3A11 (by similar).
