Description
MAOB Protein, Human (Active, sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived MAOB protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells, with N-His tag. This product contains detergent and is not suitable for cell-related experiments.
Background
MAOB is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative deamination of primary and some secondary amines (e.g., neurotransmitters) and participates in the metabolism of exogenous amines, including the tertiary amine neurotoxin 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP), with concomitant reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. It plays a role in the metabolism of neuroactive and vasoactive amines in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. The enzyme preferentially degrades benzylamine and phenylethylamine. by similar: Studies further support its critical role in amine metabolism.
Verified Bioactivity
Measured by its ability to produce hydrogen peroxide during the oxidation of benzylamine. The specific activity is >35 pmol/min/μg.
