Raptin/Reticulocalbin-2 Protein, Human (His)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Raptin a sleep-inducible hypothalamic protein hormone that suppresses obesity. Raptin is cleaved from reticulocalbin-2 (RCN2). Raptin release is timed by the circuit from vasopressin-expressing neurons in the suprachiasmatic nucleus to RCN2-positive neurons in the paraventricular nucleus. Raptin/Reticulocalbin-2 Protein, Human (His) is a recombinant Raptin protein expressed by E.coli with an N-6*His tag.
- Species: Human
- Source: E. coli

Storage:Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Sleep deficiency is associated with obesity. Raptin is a sleep-inducible hypothalamic protein hormone in humans and mice that suppresses obesity. Raptin levels peak during sleep, which is blunted by sleep deficiency. Raptin binds to glutamate metabotropic receptor 3 (GRM3) in neurons of the hypothalamus and stomach to inhibit appetite and gastric emptying, respectively. Raptin represents a new rhythmic protein hormone that suppresses appetite, providing new insights into body weight control[1].
