Background
RECQ4 is an ATP-dependent DNA helicase that unwinds dsDNA with a 3'-overhang in a 3'-5' direction but cannot unwind more than 18 bp of dsDNA. It may modulate chromosome segregation. The N-terminal domain (residues 1-54) binds Y-shaped DNA more efficiently than ssDNA or dsDNA, while the core helicase domain specifically binds ssDNA. by similar: Unwinding activity characteristics (3'-5' directionality and length limitation) and functional differences between domains (N-terminal vs. core helicase domain).
