Biological Activity
Description
srtA Protein, S. aureus (His) is the recombinant srtA protein, expressed by E. coli, with C-6*His tag.
Background
srtA is a transpeptidase that anchors surface proteins to the cell wall. It recognizes and modifies its substrate by proteolytic cleavage of a C-terminal sorting signal, forming a covalent intermediate via a thioester bond between the sortase and its substrate, which is then transferred and attached to the cell wall. This enzyme cleaves the Leu-Pro-x-Thr-Gly (LPXTG) motif between the threonine and glycine residues and utilizes lipid II as the peptidoglycan substrate for the sorting reaction. It is responsible for displaying virulence factors and plays a key role in host interactions and colonization during infection. by similar: This function is consistently reported across multiple studies.
