Background

TRIB1 is a pseudouridylate synthase that catalyzes pseudouridylation of tRNAs and mRNAs. On tRNAs, it acts on positions 27/28 in the anticodon stem and positions 34/36 in the anticodon of intron-containing tRNAs. For mRNAs, it modifies transcripts with the consensus sequence 5'-UGUAG-3'. Additionally, TRIB1 regulates pre-mRNA splicing by mediating pseudouridylation near alternative splicing regions, directly influencing mRNA splicing and 3'-end processing. It also modulates nuclear receptor activity through pseudouridylation of SRA1 mRNA.
