Description

Background

USP46 protein, a deubiquitinating enzyme, is implicated in behavioral regulation, potentially through the modulation of GABA action. Its role may involve mediating the deubiquitination of GAD1/GAD67, as suggested by studies. Interestingly, USP46 exhibits minimal deubiquitinating activity on its own and relies on interaction with WDR48 to achieve high enzymatic activity. Contrary to its involvement in GABA-related processes, USP46 is not engaged in the deubiquitination of monoubiquitinated FANCD2, indicating specificity in its substrate interactions (By similarity). This multifaceted enzyme sheds light on the intricate regulatory mechanisms underlying behavior and neurotransmitter dynamics.
