Plays a role in embryonic stem cells proliferation and differentiation. Up-regulates the expression of FABP5, MYC and cyclins A and E

Expression：
Tissue_specificity:This gene is highly and selectively expressed in undifferentiated embryonic stem cells (ESCs) , but not in differentiated ESCs. Once ESCs differentiate, its protein level rapidly declines. This gene is expressed on almost all epithelial cell membranes, but not on mesoderm or neural cell membranes. It has also been found on the surface of adenocarcinomas.
