Background

  • Function

Ephrin Receptor B4 receptor tyrosine kinase which binds promiscuously transmembrane ephrin-B family ligands residing on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. The signaling pathway downstream of the receptor is referred to as forward signaling while the signaling pathway downstream of the ephrin ligand is referred to as reverse signaling. Together with its cognate ligand/functional ligand EFNB2 it is involved in the regulation of cell adhesion and migration, and plays a central role in heart morphogenesis, angiogenesis and blood vessel remodeling and permeability. EPHB4-mediated forward signaling controls cellular repulsion and segregation from EFNB2-expressing cells

  • Subcellular Localization

Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein

  • Expression

Tissue_specificity:It is highly expressed in the placenta, but has also been detected in the kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, skeletal muscle, and heart. It is expressed in primitive hematopoietic cells and myeloid hematopoietic cells, but not in lymphoid hematopoietic cells. It has also been observed in cell lines derived from the liver, mammary gland, colon, lung, melanocytes, and cervix.

  • Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification

    P54760 has 4 isomers: P54760-1: 108270 Da (predicted); P54760-2: 55975 Da (predicted); P54760-3: 33342 Da (predicted); P54760-4: 45195 Da (predicted).
Phosphorylated; autophosphorylation is stimulated by EFNB2
