Background

Function
LRG1 is a member of the leucine-rich repeat sequence (LRR) family of proteins involved in protein-protein interactions, signal transduction, and cell adhesion and development. LRG1 is involved in promoting neovascularization (new blood vessel growth) by causing the switching of transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) signaling in endothelial cells. LRG1 binds to the co-receptor endorphins and promotes signaling through the ALK1-Smad1/5/8 pathway. LRG1 is involved in ovarian cancer progression by activating the FAK/AKT signaling pathway.
