Description

Bis (2-methylheptyl) phthalate is an orally effective antiviral agent. Bis (2-methylheptyl) phthalate inhibits the pathogenic process of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) in Penaeus monodon. Bis (2-methylheptyl) phthalate can be used in studies related to white spot syndrome[1][2].

In Vivo

Bis (2-methylheptyl) phthalate (50-150 μg/g; p.o.; once daily for 19 consecutive days) inhibits the pathogenic process of WSSV in *Penaeus monodon*[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: sub-adults (10-12 g)[1]
Dosage: 50 μg/g body weight/day; 100 μg/g body weight/day; 150 μg/g body weight/day
Administration: p.o.; daily; 4 days pre-infection + 15 days post-infection
Result: Resulted in 10% survival of WSSV-infected shrimp 15 days post-infection at 50 μg/g body weight/day.
Resulted in 60% survival of WSSV-infected shrimp 15 days post-infection at 100 μg/g body weight/day.
Resulted in 50% survival of WSSV-infected shrimp 15 days post-infection at 150 μg/g body weight/day.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
