(E,E)-3,5-Bis(phenylethenyl)-BODIPY lipid stain has a highly symmetrical structure containing two trans-configured phenyl vinyl groups. It is also a non-functionalized BODIPY derivative, lacking any groups that can covalently bind to biomolecules, and therefore specifically accumulates in lipid droplets after entering cells.
