Description

Hesperetin triacetate is an active compound with anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities. Hesperetin triacetate inhibits bovine serum albumin denaturation in vitro. Hesperetin triacetate inhibits carrageenan-induced paw swelling in mice in vivo. Hesperetin triacetate exhibits anti-proliferative activity against breast cancer cells. Hesperetin triacetate induces DNA degradation and apoptosis in breast cancer cells. Hesperetin triacetate can be used in studies related to breast cancer and inflammation[1].

In Vitro

Hesperetin triacetate (compound 4b) potently inhibits the proliferation of human breast cancer MCF-7 cells at 48 h[1].
Hesperetin triacetate (36-48 h) induces apoptotic DNA fragmentation in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Proliferation Assay[1]

Cell Line: MCF-7 human breast cancer cells
Concentration: Concentrations to determine IC50
Incubation Time: 48 h
Result: Exhibited anti-proliferative activity against MCF-7 cells with an IC50 of 0.020 ± 0.001 μmol/mL.
In Vivo

Hesperetin triacetate (compound 4b) (5% cream formulation; topical administration; twice daily for 6 consecutive days) exhibits potent anti-inflammatory activity in a carrageenan-induced mouse paw edema model[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Mice treated carrageenan (22 ± 2 g)[1]
Dosage: 5% cream formulation
Administration: topical; twice daily; 6 days
Result: Reduced paw edema to 68.25 ± 5.68% at 3 hours post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 54.2 ± 10.5% at 1 day post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 46.34 ± 7.21% at 2 days post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 48.15 ± 5.36% at 3 days post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 36.41 ± 9.59% at 4 days post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 17.64 ± 6.35% at 5 days post-carrageenan injection.
Reduced paw edema to 19.67 ± 4.46% at 6 days post-carrageenan injection.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
