Mitoxantrone carboxylic acid is the monocarboxylic acid metabolite of the antitumor agent Mitoxantrone (HY-13502). Mitoxantrone carboxylic acid is formed by oxidation of the terminal hydroxyl group on the side chain, and serves as one of the major metabolites in both humans and rabbits, which is mainly excreted via bile. Mitoxantrone carboxylic acid can be used as an HPLC reference marker for pharmacokinetic and metabolic studies of Mitoxantrone.
