ACOX1 Protein, Human (sf9, His)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
The ACOX1 protein is critical in the initial steps of peroxisomal β-oxidation, especially of very long-chain fatty acids. It catalyzes the desaturation of fatty acyl-CoA (such as palmitoyl-CoA) to 2-trans-enoyl-CoA. ACOX1 Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived ACOX1 protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with N-His labeled tag.

Description
The ACOX1 protein is critical in the initial steps of peroxisomal β-oxidation, especially of very long-chain fatty acids. It catalyzes the desaturation of fatty acyl-CoA (such as palmitoyl-CoA) to 2-trans-enoyl-CoA. ACOX1 Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived ACOX1 protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with N-His labeled tag.
Background
The ACOX1 Protein plays a pivotal role in the initial and rate-limiting step of peroxisomal beta-oxidation, particularly of straight-chain saturated and unsaturated very-long-chain fatty acids. Its catalytic activity involves the desaturation of fatty acyl-CoAs, such as palmitoyl-CoA, into 2-trans-enoyl-CoAs, exemplified by (2E)-hexadecenoyl-CoA. Additionally, ACOX1 contributes to the production of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) by donating electrons directly to molecular oxygen (O(2)). While displaying notable activity against medium-chain fatty acyl-CoAs, its optimum activity is observed with a chain length of 10 carbons, exemplified by decanoyl-CoA, as demonstrated in vitro. This multifaceted enzymatic activity underscores ACOX1's integral role in peroxisomal beta-oxidation and the metabolism of various fatty acid substrates.
