Description

BDH2 Protein, Human (His) expresses in E. coli with a His tag. BDH2 is a cytosolic-type 2-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase and has a physiological role in the utilization of cytosolic ketone bodies, which can subsequently enter mitochondria and the tricarboxylic acid cycle[1].

Background

BDH2 is a short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase family member originally named as DHRS6. BDH2 is widely expressed in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells of organs such as the kidney, small intestines, oral cavity, and breast. BDH2 plays a key role in the development and pathogenesis of human cancers[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
