Description

NaCT Protein, Human (sf9) is the recombinant human-derived NaCT, expressed by sf9 insect cells , with tag Free labeled tag. ,

Background

NaCT is a high-affinity sodium/citrate cotransporter that mediates cellular citrate uptake, playing critical roles in various biochemical pathways. It transports citrate in a Na(+)-dependent manner, preferentially recognizing the trivalent citrate form at physiological pH over the divalent form. NaCT is implicated in multiple metabolic processes including energy production (Krebs cycle), fatty acid synthesis, cholesterol synthesis, glycolysis, and gluconeogenesis. While capable of recognizing succinate as a substrate, its affinity for succinate is considerably lower than for citrate. The transport process is likely electrogenic with a probable stoichiometry of 4 Na(+) per carboxylate, regardless of substrate valence state. Additionally, NaCT contributes to citrate level regulation in the brain (by similar).
