Avenanthramide L is a phytoalexin that can inhibit the spore germination of Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae. Avenanthramide L is found in the leaves of inoculated oats, but not in the leaves of healthy oat seedlings, and at a concentration of 200-300 μg/mL.
