It is specifically hydrolyzed by this enzyme to release galactose and electroactive p-aminophenol. 4-Aminophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside, 98% is widely used in colorimetric and electrochemical assays for detecting β-galactosidase activity and determining enzyme kinetics, such as in biosensing fields including cellular senescence, pathogen and contaminant detection. In addition, since β-galactosidase is often overexpressed in primary ovarian cancer, 4-Aminophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside, 98% can also be applied to related research on primary ovarian cancer[1][2][3].

In Vitro

4-Aminophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside (0-1.7 mg/mL; 10 min-1 h) is used for cerium oxide nanoparticle-amplified colorimetric analysis, enabling sensitive detection of β-galactosidase activity with a limit of detection of 0.1 mU/mL and a linear range up to 2.0 mU/mL[1].
4-Aminophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside (50-100 μM; 1-5 minutes) enables electrochemical detection of β-galactosidase derived from E. coli within 5 minutes under neutral pH and room temperature conditions; when incubated with substrate concentrations of 50 or 100 μM for 5 minutes, its limit of detection reaches 40 ng/mL[2].
