Stypodiol
Stypodiol is an orally active sesquiterpenoid that can be isolated from Stypopodium flabelliforme. Stypodiol exhibits anticancer, gastric mucosal protective, and weak antibacterial activities. Stypodiol is used in research related to colon adenocarcinoma, neuroblastoma, basophilic leukemia, macrophage carcinoma, and gastric mucosal injury.

In Vitro
Stypodiol (12.5-50 μM; 48 h) selectively and concentration-dependently inhibits the proliferation of the RAW.267, SH-SY5Y, Caco-2, and RBL-2H3 cancer cell lines, exhibits very low activity against the non-cancerous V79 cell line, and achieves near-complete inhibition of SH-SY5Y cells at a concentration of 50 μM[1].
Stypodiol (up to 500 μM; 48 h) inhibits the viability of human gastric epithelial AGS cells and fibroblasts, with IC50 values of 153 μM and 215 μM, respectively[2].
Stypodiol (24 h) exhibits weak antibacterial activity, with an MIC of 206 μg/mL against E. faecalis[1].
