Description

GCLE (Cephalosporin G 3-chloromethyl p-methoxybenzyl ester) is a SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro) inhibitor with an IC50 of 0.03 μM. GCLE selectively acylates the Cys145 residue of Mpro. GCLE is applicable to research related to COVID-19[1].

In Vitro

GCLE (5-20 μM) modestly reduces SARS-CoV-2 replication in infected VeroE6 cells at 20 μM, though it shows no activity at 5 μM and exhibits cytotoxicity at active concentrations[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
