Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid TFA
Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid TFA (Imidazolepyruvic acid TFA) is a metabolic precursor for histidine synthesis and selective stable isotope labeling of histidine residues. Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid TFA serves as a precursor for selective histidine labeling in overexpressed proteins of Escherichia coli. Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid TFA can be used in studies related to cancer and fungal mold infections.

Biological Activity
Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid (50-200 mg/L) TFA achieves >80% 13C histidine labeling efficiency in overexpressed α-synuclein at a concentration of 50 mg/L, with efficiency approaching maximum at higher concentrations[1].
Imidazole-4-pyruvic acid TFA enables highly selective backbone 13C labeling of histidine residues in overexpressed H6-GB1 protein, with no cross-labeling of other residues[1].
