Background

IL-4 protein actively participates in multiple B-cell activation processes and influences various cell types as a critical regulator. Functioning as a costimulator, IL-4 stimulates DNA synthesis and induces the expression of class II MHC molecules on resting B-cells. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in enhancing both the secretion and cell surface expression of IgE and IgG1, contributing to immune responses. IL-4 also regulates the expression of the low-affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on lymphocytes and monocytes.
