Background
MCP-4/CCL13 is a chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils, and eosinophils, but not neutrophils. It signals through CCR2B and CCR3 receptors and plays a role in leukocyte accumulation in both allergic and non-allergic inflammation. Additionally, it may be involved in monocyte recruitment into the arterial wall during atherosclerosis and in tissues chronically exposed to exogenous pathogens.
