Elafin(human) is a serine protease inhibitory peptide that potently inhibits human neutrophil elastase (HLE) and human proteinase 3 (PR3). Elafin(human) forms a substrate-like, competitive and fully reversible complex with HLE at a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio, with a Ki of 0.17 nM. Elafin(human) inhibits PR3-mediated degradation of elastin-FITC, with an IC50 of 9.5 nM.
