DEPMPO is a phosphorus-substituted nitrone spin trap probe that can capture superoxide anions and hydroxyl radicals. DEPMPO forms stable spin adducts with hydroxyl, aryl, sulfite and superoxide radicals, and the formation of these adducts can be inhibited by catalase or superoxide dismutase.
