Casein is an orally active phosphoprotein that can be separated into various electrophoretic components, such as α2-Casein, κ-Casein, β-casein, and γ-casein. Casein has also been blended and grafted with other polymers, cross-linkers, or monomers to improve its functional properties. Casein enhances calcium absorption and reduces the extent of fissure as well as smooth-surface caries. Casein promotes proliferation of prostate cancer. Casein has various applications in the paper, leather, textile, and food industries, serving as coatings, adhesives, and packaging materials .

CMV pp65(13-27) is a biological active peptide. (This peptide is derived from amino acid residues 13 to 27 of the 65k lower matrix phosphoprotein of the human cytomegalovirus. It contains a nine-amino-acid sequence (LGPISGHVL) that matches the consensus binding motif for a major histocompatibility complex H2-Dd T-cell epitope.)

DC-peptoid-1 is a specific binder and crosslinker targeting the phosphorylated Brd4 PDID domain, with a dissociation constant (Kd) of approximately 50-100 μM for human-derived targets. DC-peptoid-1 only binds to phosphorylated PDID and fails to recognize the non-phosphorylated form or other domains (such as Brd4 598-785). DC-peptoid-1 effectively crosslinks with the target protein both in solution and cell lysates. It can successfully capture phosphorylated PDID from complex systems via immobilization, without binding to bacterial-derived non-phosphorylated proteins or other non-specific phosphoproteins. DC-peptoid-1 has the potential to serve as a phosphoprotein-specific antibody substitute for applications such as immunoaffinity purification .

Oxophoebine is a biologically active oxoaporphine alkaloid and also a DNA topoisomerase inhibitor. Oxophoebine acts as a cytotoxic agent against certain cancer cells. Oxophoebine binds to Measles Virus fusion protein, hemagglutinin and phosphoprotein, and interferes with viral entry, replication and particle assembly processes. Oxophoebine exhibits selective toxicity towards yeast mutants with defects in DNA repair and recombination. Oxophoebine can be used in studies related to measles and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) .

Protein phosphorylation is a key post-translational modification underlying the regulation of many cellular processes. Phosphatases and kinases contribute to the regulation of protein phosphorylation homeostasis in the cell. This reversible regulation of protein phosphorylation is critical for the proper control of a wide range of cellular activities, including cell cycle, proliferation and differentiation, metabolism, cell-cell interactions, etc.

Protein phosphatases have evolved in separate families that are structurally and mechanistically distinct. Based on substrate specificity and functional diversity, protein phosphatases are classified into two superfamilies: Protein serine/threonine phosphatases and Protein tyrosine phosphatases. Ser/Thr phosphatases are metalloenzymes belonging to two major gene families termed PPP (phosphoprotein phosphatase) and PPM (metal-dependent protein phosphatases), whereas protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) belong to distinct classes of enzymes that utilize a phospho-cysteine enzyme intermediate as a part of their catalytic action.

MCE supplies a unique collection of 183 phosphatase inhibitors that mainly targeting protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) and serine/threonine-specific protein phosphatases. MCE Phosphatase Inhibitor Library is a useful tool for phosphatase drug discovery and related research.
