Function
CD163L1 (CD163 molecule-like 1) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the scavenger receptor cysteine enrichment (SRCR) superfamily. CD163L1 is an endocytosis receptor that undergoes endocytosis via a clathrin-mediated pathway, a process that occurs spontaneously without receptor cross-linking. This suggests a role in clearing potentially harmful molecules from the tissue microenvironment and promoting inflammation resolution. CD163L1 is involved in the regulation of innate immunity and may function through the following mechanisms: recognizing and clearing damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs); participating in anti-inflammatory pathways associated with the recognition and clearance of apoptotic cells and pathogens, and regulating the intensity of the inflammatory response[1].

Expression
Tissue_Specificity: Isoform 1 is highly expressed in the spleen, lymph nodes, thymus, and fetal liver and weakly expressed in bone marrow and no expression was found in peripheral blood leukocytes. Isoform 1 expression is restricted to the monocyte and macrophage cell lines. Isoform 2 is only expressed in spleen -
