Definition:

Human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA), previously known as human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE), is a tick-borne infection caused by Anaplasma phagocytophilum. It results in symptoms ranging from mild febrile illness to severe disease characterized by an acute, influenza-like illness in older individuals and immunocompromised patients.
