Biological Activity: Herbicidal agent 17 is a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor (IC50 = 9.55 nM in Nicotiana tabacum) that exerts its herbicidal activity by binding to the active site of PPO and blocking the conversion of protoporphyrinogen IX to protoporphyrin IX in chloroplasts. Herbicidal agent 17 can be used for post-emergence control studies of broadleaf weeds and grass weeds[1].
