Metastatic Cervical Cancer

Metastatic cervical cancer, representing approximately 15% of all cervical cancer cases in the United States, is characterized by the spread of cancerous cells from the cervix to distant sites such as lymph nodes, lungs, or liver. Despite advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, the prognosis remains poor, with a median survival time of only 8–13 months and a 5-year survival rate of 16.5%. It is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women aged 20 to 39, highlighting its significant global health challenge.
